Gen Z could take ever the world of social media?

Yeah, you read that correctly alright. It's hard to believe, but the more I'm on social media I feel like it's a platform for "younger kids". Either that or I'm getting old, but it's strange to me cause I only turned 24 a week ago and I really do feel like I'm surrounded by kids on it.

I'm active on Instagram because I love photography and I see a lot of sponsored ad for various Instagram accounts with kids in them. For example; I was scrolling through Instagram the other night and I saw a page for people with amazing voices, forgive me as I forget the name of the account, but on the account, each post had a kid singing various songs. I was blown away. Each of these kids was guaranteed to be no older than 17 years old and this account had over 200,000 followers.

I think that's where the future of media is going. I think for some of these kids to have over 1000 followers whether it is on their personal account or on an account they've created for fun, where and how are they getting so many people to follow their account is based on their own understanding of how to market their social media platforms. Gen Z (People born from 1997-2011) may be the greatest marketers of our time. They know exactly how to bring people to their social media pages and keep them there, it's amazing to me.

You're like a fine Italian wine, Lu. You only get better with age.

That Roberto Luongo, Bobby Lu, Lui, along with his many other nicknames has become one of the best netminders in the NHL. To put it bluntly, Bobby Lu is like a fine Italian wine, he only gets better with age. At 37 years old, Luongo has been a key factor in helping the Florida Panthers climb back into a playoff spot since his departure from the Vancouver Canucks in March 2014. In the 2015-2016 season he had 35 wins in 60 starts and that’s including playoff games. When he’s not on the ice stopping pucks you can often find himself poking fun at himself on Twitter. I attended a game in New York in March 2016, held a sign up and asked for a selfie and I was ignored, but this past December in Winnipeg against the Jets you fist bumped me, so have no fear Lu we’re good.

I think I have an addiction...

Hey guys,

So, the title pretty much says it all...

I have an addiction to Miss Browns and I think the cure is...more Miss Browns!

It was one of those days where CreComm got the best of me. I was up until 2 am working on another assignment before I passed out and slept through my alarm clock.

I realized I had 40 minutes to get to school or risk being late and those of you that know me know I absolutely hate being late and it's bad for your grades.

Luckily, I got to class on time and everything worked out, but I skipped out soon the most important meal of the day.

When I skip out on breakfast I'm irritable and weak through the day.

So, I went to Miss Browns and got myself some eggs benedict, but not smoked salmon or Canadian bacon eggs benny. I got something cool.

I got smoked beef brisket eggs benedict! Just try to wrap your mind around this work of art right now.

What's on this thing you ask?

Well, its starts off with two poached eggs Homemade Hollandaise with Choice of Original "Ham" brisket or smoked salmon or Veggie "Spinach"

I got my first bite out this beauty and it tasted like a mothers love, but it came with a hefty price tag.

I paid $12.50 for this, but it was totally worth it. The Holly sauce really blended well with the brisket thats for sure.

That's all for this week guys.

See you soon!

I went back because it was that good...

Hey guys!

I'm back again with a real tasty treat from the good ol' Exchange District. I recently found out my uncle was coming to visit from Australia and if you know a thing for two about the Aussies it's that they absolutely worship food.

So, I was searching Australian food in Winnipeg... just because.

Anyway, one of the first results that popped up was the "Aussie Burger" from Miss Browns.

I thought to myself "What are the odd of that?"

So, I popped in (obviously) and to my surprise they had this work of art on the menu and it was right under my nose this whole time.

Without hesitation I ordered myself an Aussie burger, in total in took about 5-8 minutes to make. I was happy too cause it wasn't some pre-made junk food.

I know what you're thinking..."JUST TELL ME WHAT'S ON THIS THING, MAN"

Ok, ok, you're right I should've said that earlier.

The Aussie Burger has 100% all Manitoban beef, havarti cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickled beetroot, pickles, house BBQ sauce and a fried egg on a brioche bun. How's that for a hearty burger? You like what you're reading? Just wait till you see the pics.

Oh man, I'm salivating as I write this guys!

Now Miss Browns is great but their hours are fairly limited so make sure you check their hours before heading down for a bite or two.

That's all for this post guys!

See you next time!

P.S.  My photos suck because I only had my iPhone and i was super hungry... so bear with my guys and...I may have eaten half the burger already...yes, it was THAT good.

Hey guys,

I'm catching up on some missed blog posts so I apologize. School has turned me into a real busy bee. I'm happy to be back, though.

Alright, lets jump right into it.

I stopped by one of my favourite burger joints, it's called Nuburger. It's the bees knees! I've been there quite a few times.

Every time I go I try to get something different and today I had a chance to do just that. My usual go to burger of choice is the Tropic Thunder with avocado.

This time I tried the El Luchador, the ingredients are as follows, creamy feta, homemade corn salsa, avocado, cilantro, lettuce, tomato and low-fat chipotle with

The best part about this Nuburger is that they also have a few local beers on tap, what goes better than a beer and burger? This time around I had a ginger ale because I was driving. Oh, and also yam fries.

**SAFETY FIRST KIDS**

All in all Nuburger is bound to make your taste buds twist and shout without making a fat. Did I mention ALL burgers are made with fresh ingredients? Good. Just making sure.

Well, that's all for this week guys!

See you next week!

My two favourite ethnic foods come together as one!

Hey guys!

This past week has been pretty flippin' busy, Ive been running around like crazy trying to complete assignments any which way I can that I almost forgot to write my blog.

Which would be bad for me and for you...trust me.

Alright, I want you to close your eyes and imagine your two favourite ethnic foods for a second....Got it? Great!

My favourite foods in my opinion, of course, would have to be Mexican burritos and sushi. Now, what if I told you you could have both of these foods together as one?

Yes, guys...SUSHI BURRITOS and they're available right here in the Exchange District, how unreal is that? There's a little hole in the wall on Bannatyne Street called Chosabi, they're the ones who have conjured up this magic.

Now, I know what you guys are asking me "Foti, a sushi burrito sounds weird and kinda gross." I thought the same thing, but then I went in and thought I'd take a leap of faith. I'm glad I did, thats for sure.

Since it was my first time I thought I'd get their signature dish which ironically is called "The Chosabi" and holy moly was it awesome.

The Chosabi has the following ingredients: Tuna, salmon, crab meat, cucumber, tempura flakes, spicy aioli, avocado, sushi rice.

All wrapped up in a seaweed wrap and rolled to perfect.

Each sushi burrito runs at about $14 or less and it's flavour explosion right in your mouth.

Don't believe me? Check out the pics below.

Are you seriously still reading this or are you on your way yet?

Well, that's it for this week guys!

See you next week!

Not your average burger

Hey guys, this week I stopped by one of my favourite burger places in Winnipeg. It's called Nuburger, which is a small Winnipeg based franchise in Osborne Village.

The thing thats great about that's great about these burger is that they're all natural! Yes, ALL NATURAL. Their vegetables and meats are all organic and their meat is fresh and never frozen, which I'm a big fan of.

My go to burger is called the Tropic Thunder. It's a burger bursting at the seams with flavour! The ingredients are  Double-smoked free-range nitrate-free candied BACON, Bothwell cheddar, grilled pineapple, lettuce and low fat chipotle.

Are you still reading this or are you on your way yet? The great thing about this burger is that it's a burger that doesn't make you feel crummy after. I have that issue after eating at most fast food places.

So, if you're craving a burger that sweet and spicy this is the one for you.

Thats all for this week guys.

see you next week!

A Canadian dish

Hey, guys!

So, today I'm going to be talking about one of my all time favourite fast foods. It's a common favourite if you hail from the great white north, much like myself. I call it "Greasy deliciousness" but the more common name for it is "Poutine".

Poutine is french fries with mozzarella cheese curds and hot gravy on top. I can already see you salivating as you read this haha.  Poutine was invented by mistake in the Montreal, Quebec in the late 1950's and when it was born it spread through Canada like wildfire.

Today, you can Poutine almost everywhere McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, you name it. However, the restaurant I went to is a little more over the top than those places. In 2011, Smoke's Poutinerie opened up here in the Exchange District and it's just a quick walk from RRC.

Today I popped in for a little treat after a long and rough week at school, but not just for some regular poutine. The cool thing about Smoke's is that you can get almost any type of topping on your poutine! Hot sauce, pulled pork, bacon, peppers, you name it, they got it. I got the Prime beef deluxe, it has ground beef, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions and peas. It was like a warm Thanksgiving dinner on top of poutine. For $10 I had my lunch and dinner combined.

So, if you're thinking about getting yourself a nice plate of poutine this is the place to go! Now, I want to hear from you guys, what's your favourite fast food? Comment below!

Until next week guys!

Stella's Cafe

Hey guys,

I had a craving the other day for something sweet and spicy. One of my favourite types of spices that has both of these properties is curry.

So, I went to one of my favourite restaurants, Stella's Cafe. I've been going to this place for years and it's phenomenal. I don't think I've ever had a meal from there that I didn't like. One of my all time favourites is the Chicken Curry. The ingredients are  chicken, coconut milk & fresh cilantro in a creamy curry sauce served over brown basmati rice with banana, raisins, sweet coconut & peach chutney.

Is your mouth salivating right now? Cause mine sure is! If you're looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth and also keep you warm on a cold winter day, try the Chicken Curry out! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Now, I want to hear from you guys. What are your favourite restaurants? Comment below! I'm always down to try something new.

Well, that's it for this week guys. See you next week!

Peace!

King and Bannatyne

Hey guys!

Oh boy do I have a post for you. Last night I stopped by one of my favourite sandwich shops in the exchange district. Located at 100 King Street, King and Bannatyne is the sandwich shop that will make your tastebuds dance. I found this place just over a year ago when a friend of mine told me about it.

The first thing I noticed was the hipster like environment, raw wood tables and chairs, glass bottles of water with cups (very European), and the menu was written on a vertical chalk board.

Each sandwich runs at about $8-10 depending on the sandwich. I got the special which was $9.75. Their special changes everyday and each time I go I try something different, I'm never disappointed.

This week was a pork belly sandwich with beans in bbq sauce and horseradish coleslaw. My mouth is literally salivating as I write this.

It was a phenomenal southern style burger  with a perfect mixture of sweet and tangy BBQ sauce and a bit of a kick from the horseradish.

If you guys are hungry for something sweet and spicy, give this a try! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

check out my photos!

Enjoy!

That's all for this week guys!

See you next week!

I'm back!

Hey guys,

Its been a while sine I made a post so I thought I'd post a little something. My last few posts were about hockey and I'm straying from the path a bit and going to start blogging about food....we can all agree it's a beautiful thing.

Today I had the chance to stop by one of my favourite places in city, Miss Brown's. It's a little hipster sandwich shop in the exchange district. Their menu has a lot of great things such as sandwiches, burgers, soups, lattes and exotic drinks.

Today, I got their special which is a smoked beef brisket sandwich. Inside it was a little bit of aioli (they wouldn't tell me, I guess it's a secret) mustard, romain lettuce, pickles, and a smoked beef brisket. The sandwich was made on multigrain toasted bread. The brisket was so tender that it melted in my mouth. I enjoyed the sandwich with an ice cold Coca Cola.

Overall, I really enjoyed the sandwich and would highly recommend it if you're looking for something delicious and healthy. I mean, come on, take a look at that work of art. She's a beauty, huh?

That's all for this week guys. See you next week!
